(Yaaseen) 36 : 67
وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَمَسَخْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مُضِيًّا وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ

And if it had been Our Wish, We would have fixed them in their places, so that they couldn’t move forward or back.

Two misguided individuals from the descendants of Ibrahim and Ismail, one male named Asafa and the other female named Na’ila, engaged in fornication at the Ka’ba, forgetting its sacredness. Allah transformed them into two stone idols, as explained in verse 2:158. The Almighty Lord made them hear all the events happening around them. This is the meaning of what is told in verses 35:13-14: “And if they hear, they won’t answer you.” As told in verses 17:49-51, “You become stone or iron or anything harder you think of, you will all be resurrected on the Day of Judgment.” These stones, as well as the mankind who hide and reject Adhikr, are the fuel for the fire, as explained in verse 2:24.

As explained in verse 6:28, in Hell, which will be filled with mankind and jinn, with no gap even for a needle, these worst creatures, whether male or female, mentioned in verses 8:22 and 98:6, will coincide with their sexual organs with those they had been thirsting for illegal sex in this world. See explanation 4:47-48; 5:60.
